Classical tarot meaning: The Hanged Man
The Hanged Man hangs willingly, one foot bound, a calm light around his head. He is not being punished; he has agreed to stop. It is the card of suspension, of the pause that reverses your view of a thing you were certain about.
Traditionally it reads as sacrifice, waiting, new perspective, and the fertile helplessness that precedes real change.

In Madam Moira's deck it is The Inverted Tree: a tree hanging crown-down, its gold roots open to the air, still somehow alive.
Nothing about it is dying. It is simply drinking from a direction it never expected to drink from.
Upright: what it asks of you
Upright, the card asks you to stop pushing at a door that is not the door. The season you are in is not empty; it is doing something under the surface that force would only interrupt.
It often arrives when a person has done everything right and nothing has moved.
Reversed: where the light goes wrong
Turned inward, the pause hardens into a habit. Waiting becomes an identity; suffering starts to feel like proof of depth; the new angle is refused because the old one, however painful, is known.
Reversed asks whether you are still surrendering, or simply stuck and calling it grace.

In love, it is a relationship in suspension — nothing to decide today, only something to see differently. In work, it is a project that must sit before it can be finished.
